Born in 1890, he came of age during the turn of the century, a crucial time for the art world. Man Ray considered himself a painter first, but he was also a well renowned photographer, photographing many of the famous artist ex pats living in Paris. He made important photographic contributions to film that were influential to both surrealism and dadaism. Man Ray
